An important product of California's agriculture is dairy products and grapes.
We have many cattle to produce milk. We also produce cotton and wine. Some
products of the sea are fish, shrimp, crab and lobster. California has a
population of 29,760,021.
The name of my state is California. California's
frontiers are Arizona, Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, and the Pacific Ocean. My
State became a state in the year 1850. It was the 31st state in the Union. The capital of my state is Sacramento and
one of the biggest cities of my state is Los Angeles. When visitors visit
my state, I want them to visit the Redwood Highway,Yosemite National Park,
Death Valley and the L.A. Arboretum.
A state larger than California is Texas. Mount Whithnney and Death Valley
are some famous landmarks you can visit in California. An important date
in my State is 1850 because California became part of the United States.
One fact that I learned about my state is that its population grew during
the Gold Rush. The capital is Sacramento and it is located in northern California.
My state is part of the Pacific Region. My state joined the union in 1850.
The nickname of my State is The Golden State. It got this nickname
during the Gold Rush. Three facts that I would like everyone to know about
my state is that people from other countries came to experience the Gold
Rush. Yosemite Park has waterfalls and Death Valley is the hottest place
in California.
Pioneers from San Francisco and other
parts of the world came to the Gold Rush in California. Pioneers wandered
looking for gold. In 1849 the rush for gold made pioneers jump on their
mules and start the rough journey to California. Pioneers had a rough time
during the journey and they had to sleep in the wilderness. They didn't
have much sleep and they didn't eat well. Some said, "Forget about
it, let's just turn back". These pioneers came to become rich with
the gold they mined for. Most of them didn't turn back. Some of these pioneers
came from New England. If you came from New England and you had to sail
around South America (there was no Panama Canal to pass through then). The
gold made the population grow up to 250,000 people by the year 1852.

The name of my state is California. In 1850 California
became the thirty-first state in the United States. California is located
near the Pacific Ocean, Nevada, Arizona, Mexico, and Oregon. The capital
of California is Sacramento. The biggest cities are Los Angeles, and San
Francisco. The one thing that has fascinated me about this state is that
gold gave California its nickname. The abbreviation of my state is CA. California
became part of the United States in 1850.
The first people who came to California were the miners and the pioneers.
They went to California because they wanted to find gold. Now, people go
to fun places like Disneyland, Six Flags, and Yosemite Park. Many people
came here because of the Gold Rush. Gold had been mined in Western Georgia
in the late 1830's. The greatest Gold Rush in the history of the United
States began with the discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill on the American
River in northern California on January 24, 1848. When word reached that
there was gold in San Francisco, thousands of people flocked to this region.
The great rush began in 1849. California's population grew from about 14,000
in 1848 to 100,000 in 1850. That number increased to 250,000 by late 1852
and to 380,000 by 1860. Most of the miners were from the United States and
they were called the forty-niners, just like the football team. Also miners
came from China, Australia, and many Latin American nations.
California has a good agricultural business.
In California people grow grapes to make wine. One of the products of the
sea is fish. California has an area of 10,000 square miles and 10,000,000
people live here today. One state that is bigger than California is Texas.
Yosemite is a well known landmark in California. An important date in my
state is 1850 because it's when California became a state of the Union.
Some of the other people who came to California were Dame Shirley and Fayette.
They arrived in September 1851. Dame Shirley and Fayette were looking for
gold. They went to find gold because they wanted to become rich. They arrived
by sailing from New England all around South America to California. Dame
Shirley and Fayette were trying to get to Rich Bar. Around Rich Bar, there
were bushwhackers. Bushwhackers killed many people for their gold or belongings.
When Dame Shirley was traveling on a stage-coach, she was really scared
when she came to the top of a cliff. So when she got down off the stage-coach,
the coach said, "You were really brave". Then when Dame Shirley
and Fayette got to Rich Bar, the miners thought that she was a woman with
lots of gumption because she traveled a dangerous trail. Dame Shirley later
became a teacher and she died when she was 85 years old. She is remembered
by her students and her fame!
