If I Was A Turkey . . .
By Ana T, Mrs. Corleto's Class

If I was a turkey I would feel very special. First, because I would be a hen with a beautiful feather wing, and I would have an elegant feather display. Also I would have my own gobble sound so nobody would sound like me. Also I am going to be very popular once a year.

My feathers would be used for decorations, like hats and other things. My home is going to be in a farm, where farmers will take care of me from the day I came out of the egg all the way until the day I am going to be part of a very special celebration.

I believe this is a very important day and scary day of my life where I am going to get killed and be the center of a family dinner table. The people get together to give thanks to all the wonderful things that have happened to the family through the years.

If I Was A Turkey . . .

If I were a turkey I think I would be a wild turkey. I would be brown with beautiful colored feathers, but I wouldn't be able to fly.

On Thanksgiving Day people would chase me and try to catch me, but I would be too fast for the hunters. Then when I would be too far away from them I would go and hide somewhere so that they wouldn't find me. Every year in the month of November I'd be scared and I'd hide whenever I'd see people.

Some day, when I'd least expect it, someone will hunt me down and catch me. Then they'd kill me and stuff me and then they'd cook me. Then they would have a good Thanksgiving Day feast. After they'd finish eating me they would eat the dessert and enjoy the food they had eaten. Then they would give my bones to the dog and the dog would either eat my bones or go and hide them in the backyard.

I think that I would feel sad but happy at the same time. I would feel sad because turkeys can't fly and they would catch me very easily. I would feel happy because the hunters would have kind of a hard time catching me because I run fast.
