Hey Readers, listen up! The Wilshire Library will be on the road for the month of July, and as you guessed, its doors will be closed to you.

The books (including the Baby Sitter's Club) are going to get jammed into boxes, the boxes jammed into big moving trucks, and the trucks will hit the road back to the library's original location at 149 N. St. Andrews.

The original building was closed after the 1987 Whittier-Narrows Earthquake. The library suffered major damages, but because it was on the National Register of Historic Monuments, it could not be destroyed. After nine years of repairs, the library is finally ready to be opened to the public. The original building features authentic Italian Renaissance-style molding, carved balconies and skylights.

The library will celebrate its reopening with Grand Opening ceremonies in August. During the Grand Opening a new afternoon reading club will be kicked off. The new library will be equipped with 13 new computers for the public use. The computers will offer access to data bases and to the Internet so that you can "Surf the Net" while you visit the library.

If you have any books to return, you may return them in front of the new library throughout July. So remember to check out those books before the Goosebumps get packed, because the mummies can't find their way to your house by themselves!
