![]() Biographical Information![]() I have the distinction of being a California native who has watched the city grow, and grow and grow. I grew up at the edge of the suburbs in Rosemead. I graduated from Rosemead High School and went on to get a Bachelor's degree from California State University at Los Angeles. I began teaching and much later went back to school to receive a Master's in Educational Administration from Pepperdine University. I began my teaching career at 122nd Street School in 1968. I taught third and fourth grades. I later transferred to Bryson Avenue School, in South Gate, where I taught third grade. After the birth of my son, I returned to teaching at Corona Avenue School in Bell. I taught 3-5 grade students as part of a team of teachers for several years, then became the Reading Resource Teacher. I progressed to Math Resource Teacher, Title 1 Coordinator and finally was just called the Curriculum Coordinator. I was at Coronas a double session school and when it was one of the first schools in Los Angeles to become a year-round school. We grew from 1,200 students to over 2,000 in the years I was there. I left Corona to become an Instructional Advisor with Administrative Region B of the Los Angeles Unified School and assisted over 30 schools in the implementation of math and science instruction as well as many other programs. I began my administrative career as the Assistant Principal of Hooper Avenue Elementary School in South Central L.A. I came to Alexandria as an Assistant Principal in January of 1987 and was promoted in August of 1987 to Principal. I have seen the school grow from about 1,400 students to 1,750 in the 1998 school year. Our staff has grown and changed over the years. ![]() Return to Carol Labrow's home Alexandria's Home Page![]() Carol Labrow, Principal Last modified: October 18, 1999 |
