Title: The Whingdingdilly

Author: Bill Peet

Illustrator: Bill Peet

Summary: One day a dog named Scamp was sad. He was sad because he wanted to be a horse. He didn't want to be just a horse, he wanted to be a famous horse like Palomar. When he was sad he had his legs down in the porch.

Scamp was sad. He didn't know a way to tell Orvie that he wanted to be a horse. Orvie didn't know what Scamp was feeling.

In that day a witch was patting on Scamp head. When Scamp saw the witch, he was going to run. When the witch said that she knew he wanted to be a horse. She said that she could make him a better thing than a horse.

The witch when she said she could turn Scamp into a horse. She got a leaf, and she danced and said, "Diggety dawgety ziddle dee zump..." When she said that she turned his back into the back of a camel. Then she did zebra legs and a tail. Next she did a giraffe neck. Finally she gave him elephant legs and a rhinoceros nose and a name: "Whingdingdilly."

When the witch turned Scamp into a six animal named Whingdingdilly, his owner Orvie went to look for Scamp, he was yelling to Scamp, "Come here boy!" Scamp hid in the haystack.

Scamp came back home and Orvie and his dad was talking about him. Scamp liked what Orvie was talking about him. Orvie and his dad were talking about Scamp. Orvie, when he was eating, he didnŐt want to eat. He didn't want to eat because Scamp got lost and he didnŐt come back.

When the kid gave C.J. a newspaper, he saw that there was a big animal lost in the farmland. He said that he was going to catch him. He said that he was going to catch Scamp to earn more money than he has. When he saw the newspaper ,he said, "Eureka!"

When they caught Scamp they took him to the audience. They were touching him and when the witch got home, she said to not step in her flowers. So when she got to her home, she saw that Scamp stepped in her flowers. When they were touching him, the thing that the witch turned him into disappeared. When it disappeared, C.J. got Scamp by his hair and tail and threw him in the street.

When they threw Scamp in the street, he went back to his home. When they threw Scamp to the street he went to his home and he barked and Orvie and Scamp were happy. He got Scamp and hugged him.

My Opinion & Recommendation: I liked the story but I didn't like the parts where the witch turned Scamp into six animals. I didn't like that because C.J. chained Scamp up. I didn't like it either because they were going to kill Scamp. I didn't like it too because C.J. had one donkey, one big chicken bigger than the donkey, and one duck with two heads.
