Title: The Whingdingdilly
Author: Bill Peet
Illustrator: Bill Peet
Summary: This is a story about a dog named Scamp who was always sad because he wanted
to be famous
so everybody could watch him. Scamp was tired of
being a dog.
Orvie said to his dog, "What's wrong Scamp?"
Scamp was too sad to speak. Scamp was too sad to tell Orvie.
The witch said to Scamp, "How would you like
to be something fantastic?" Then the witch said to Scamp, "How about a Whingdingdilly?"
Scamp said yes.
The witch bounced like a grasshopper and waved the twig.
Then the witch made him
a Whingdingdilly. The things that were in him are a camel back, zebra legs, giraffe neck,
elephant legs and a rhinoceros nose.
Scamp was hiding from Orvie because he was a Whingdingdilly.
When Orvie came to the top of the hill he stopped for one more time. Then Scamp ran away.
Then Scamp looked at the window. He saw Orvie at the window.
Orvie looked sad because when Scamp was there they always had fun and they always ate together
and they went to play outside everyday too.
The showman looked at the newspaper. Then he was happy because
he had an idea. The showman was too excited about it. The idea was to show the people the animal
that he saw.
The man was mad at the dog and the people were saying give
me back my money and some said boo. The showman threw the dog out on the road. Then Scamp was sad
because he got thrown by the showman.
Orvie was happy to see Scamp because he was not there for a long
time and he is his best friend. Scamp was happy to see Orvie because he did not see him because he was
a Whingdingdilly and he did not see him for a long time and he is his best friend too.
My Opinion & Recommendation: I like the story because it is a nice and interesting story.
The story is interesting and nice because they are sharing and helping and caring. The kindest
thing that happened in the story is when Orvie and Scamp saw each other.
