California

The name of my state is California. It is located near the Pacific Ocean. The frontiers are Oregon, Mexico, Nevada, the Pacific Ocean and Arizona. My state joined the Union in 1850 and it was the 31st state to become a part of the United States. The capital is Sacramento and the biggest city is Los Angeles. When tourists visit my state, I want them to see the museums, lakes, parks and Hollywood.

Two products of importance in agriculture are corn and grapes. One of the products of the sea is fish. My state has an area of 100,000 square miles and 35,000,000 people live here. One state that is bigger than mine is Texas. Sacramento is a well known landmark in my state. An important date in my state is 1850 because that is the year that California became a state. One fact that I learned about my state that fascinated me is that pioneers were brave to come to California.

The abbreviation of my state is CA. The capital of my state is Sacramento. My state is part of the south- west region of the United States. A nick-name for California is the Golden State. An important fact that everyone should know about my state is that my flag has a grizzly bear. Before California became a state, it was called the Bear Republic.

One day, a woman named Dame Shirley and her husband Fayette wanted to go to San Francisco to find gold. They traveled a long journey and she was scared. There was lots of wilderness and dangerous animals. The journey was stormy and rough. Dame Shirley was going to fall off a cliff but she was lucky to fall on a flat part. A storm hit before they got to Rich Bar, their destination. They had to go 39 more miles. When Dame Shirley got there, the miners said that she was a brave woman to travel the dangerous journey.
