Machu Picchu
By Diane H.

The name of the city I am researching is Machu Picchu. It is located in the continent of South America. The frontiers of Machu Picchu are Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, and Ecuador. Machu Picchu is located in the country of Peru. It reaches the South Pacific Ocean. Machu Picchu has an area of two square miles.

Three facts that I learned from Machu Picchu are that it is the land of the Incas. It perches on the Andes, and it is a landmark. When tourists visit Peru they should come see Machu Picchu because it a beautiful place. They will also see the Andes Mountains. They will see beautiful animals called llamas.

Llamas are useful to the Incas in many ways. They are used to transport goods. They use the llamas hair to make garments and its hide is used to make sandals. A llama is an inexpensive animal to raise. It is a hardy animal and lives on shrubs, lickens, and other plants that grow on high mountains. It can live for weeks without water. So it doesn't get parched very easily. Instead of water, it gets its moisture from green plants. Llamas are members of the camel family. The Incas eat the meat from the llamas.
