Our Trip to the Wells Fargo Museum
By Angela O, Mr. Crockett's Class

My name is Angela O. On December 6, 1996, on a Friday morning, Mr. Crockett's class took a field trip. As an eleven-year-old it was a huge reward to see what I saw. We saw many interesting things like stage coaches, Fool's Gold (Pyrite) and many more wonderful things. The thing that caught my attention was the real stage coach displayed in the front of the museum.

When We first entered the museum, we did not know what we were going to find. As soon as we went in, a very nice person greeted us. To start off, we went to see a movie on how Wells Fargo came to be. When the movie finished, they explained to us that we were going to have a little contest and the one with the most stage coach tickets was going to a get a prize. So as we roamed around the museum, we got tickets for every question we got right.

At the end of the tour we got to ride a real stage coach. That ride taught me many things that I did not know. Like how rough it was to ride across the countryside and how much people had to suffer, like when they went 3 weeks without taking a bath, and sometimes having no food. The rides were also cold if you were traveling during winter. They also told us how much a ticket from Los Angeles to San Diego cost. The tour guides told us that it would cost approximately 100 dollars to 1000 dollars. It was a real shock to me because back then that was like a million dollars is now. After that, we went to go eat at Elysian Park. We had fun playing at the swings and playing baseball there. But soon it was time to go back to school. We had the most wonderful time ever.
